Nice! I’m running SitDrag with harness. It’s a great setup to start. I wanted to make sure I’d enjoy this before I went and bought a true saddle. Don’t think I’ll even get one. The SitDrag is very comfortable for me. I run 3 sticks with single aide on all of them. Also use 3 wild edge steps around the tree combined with top step of last stick. Can walk around tree easy and it’s comfortable. Will probably get a perch or make my own soon.

Man I went down a rabbit hole of information and youtube vids last night. Wife actually reached over in bed and took my phone at one point.
I think if I were to really get into this again for the purpose of increased mobility and speed I would seriously look into SRT or DRT climbing instead of sticks. I think it may actually be a productive way to hunt Mule deer and elk in addition to spot and stalk.

I'm running 3 Hawk Helium sticks with DIY 2 step aiders
Very interested in the Hawks with aiders. Do you have trouble finding the aider step when going down the tree?

They hug the tree so you have to be mindful of that but it's not a problem

I have aiders on two of my muddy pros. If the tree is small...be careful. They want to kick in past the tree when you put your weight on them so make sure to be centered. I used tubular webbing with some rope inside of them to keep it open.

As in having my foot in the center of the tree? Or as in having the stirrup in the center of my foot?

That weak side maneuver ole baw did is SLICK. I think a platform will be the route I go.

I took the plunge and have some stuff in order. Pretty pumped.

Made my first legitimate sit in the saddle yesterday afternoon and I was very happy with how it all went.
I was very comfortable sitting from 3:30-6:20.
I did not move while in the tree nearly as much as I thought I would have.
Set up was very efficient (this was the first time I deployed all three sticks, platform, etc)
Range of shooting ability was as expected.
Put on all bottom layers that you plan to hunt with; bibs are great because you can keep them unzipped until needed
I put on my vest and jacket while up in the tree; no problems there
Do not try to climb medium sized pine trees; way too much sway
Small oaks are ideal

Tethrd saddle kit and pred platform
Ropeman 1
Recliner strap
HYS strap for gear
Hawk helium sticks
Gonna use my alps backpack for toting it all. Should work fine.
Also have some tubular webbing to fashion a couple of aiders. Not sure how I want to do them just yet.

How high can you get with your aiders?
Posted on 11/1/19 at 10:00 am to beHop
My hip was at 20' (according to my 20' pull rope)
I could have gotten higher but that is what worked with the tree

Is the single rope and strap your only attachment to the tree?

In that situation, yes it was. You can also have a linesman's belt that you use for climbing and setting up. The linesman doesn't come off until you're on the platform and being supported by the tether. Some people use a secondary tether in some situations for a redundancy.
Because you have tension on the tether at all times (you may have an inch or two of slack when adjusting) you never put more force than your weight on the rope. These ropes are rated for 7000lbs of force, take into account the knots and you have a minimum of 5500lbs of strength holding onto you. As for the saddle (my H2 for instance) the rope fails before the saddle does in testing YouTube
