I really like them. Smart. Hard hunting. Tough as nails. They are mostly black and tan, she is a red head.
If your thinking about one, you won’t be disappointed.
My only concern would be how it is around my other animals and chickens. Obviously it'd be like any other dog and come down to socializing him correctly, but I had a buddy who had two that were complete bad asses. They'd use them on hogs. Only thing is they'd try to kill it if it moved. His female was the last to be alive. She chased a cat under a house and in the process of ripping at the cat she stabbed herself in the head several times on an exposed nail and it killed her. She suicided herself trying to kill something.
I kind of like that, but don't want a marauder going around murdering my animals if they tend to be like a pitbull and are an inevitable dog attack statistic waiting to happen, and there's nothing I can do about it.
And I ask that as an experienced dog trainer and owner. Some breeds (and individual dogs), there's just nothing you can absolutely do to fool-proof the breed from being a liability, but I really really want one to watch my property with the bigger dog.

Penn & Roux look like they just did something they shouldn't, LOL.

My chessie lived to 16 but I retired her from hunting after 10yrs.
Since the duck hunting is going to shite I am trying my hand at a "versatile breed". She has a ton of prey drive and is very birdy but there's nothing like watching a lab handle like a lazer beam to a hard swimming cripple and start diving on them.
