Me too. And to the OP, spinning reel is the only way to go IMO.

We fish bull reds a lot at night. You can't always see where your bait hits the water so for that reason I prefer a spinning reel setup. I

I agree it may be overkill, but this is my go to setup for catching most of my fish offshore. It's a very lightweight setup and very easy to cast.

Mangrove fishing is better than red snapper fishing in so many ways, not the least of which is keeping 10 of them. It's a shame they took out some fantastic mangrove rigs in South Timbalier about 5 to 6 years ago. We had a couple of honey holes and it was heartbreaking when we found open water where they used to be.
