Leisure kayak trip around BR

Looking to take a little trip after finals to paddle around and get away for a few hours. Any recommendations for places to go with nice scenery that won't be too overcrowded? (Somewhat close to BR, if possible)
Wetting a line would be a solid bonus as well.

There's the new kayak launch at Highland Park. You can paddle down Bayou Fountain to Bayou Manchac all the way to Amite River if you want. There's an interactive map that shows current water levels, launch points, bridges, and any obstructions.

There's several public paddle trails in the area, Bayou Teche, Bayou Lafourche, Henderson Swamp/Bayou Courtableau, and Big Alabama Bayou in Sherburne WMA.

Indian Bayou/Henderson Swamp

Amite River and Blind River are close to BR, but really crowded with bass boats and power boats/jet skis. I wouldn't recommend paddling those. Any of the places I've mentioned are fishable for bass, bream, sacalait, catfish.

I'd suggest that one, or Little Alabama right next to it. If Big Alabama, the southern launch would be better to go to. Not as much boat traffic and the water is usually better. I recently went to Little Alabama. Beautiful area. And there's a few fish in there.

I also want to mention to beware of aligators in any Louisiana waterway during the summer months. They will usually stay clear of you, so don't mess with them and provoke them to mess with you. Being in a kayak, your arms are not very high above the water, and your kayak may not be much bigger than the gator.
