everybody i talk to that fishes in there does not support it. every comment i saw on la sportsman under the pics of the fish kills after gustav was critical of the size limit. hard to believe their poll numbers. something like 17.5% of repsondents said they were "tourny fisherman". taht seems high, too. perhaps its just that the tourney fisherman are the only ones who can consistently catch keepers.

I support it. Bass do not quit growing at 13 7/8 inches long. They just cannot be kept. You make the limit 12 inch and all you will catch is 11 7/8 inch fish. If you don't believe it go to tickfaw or blind river and try to catch a 12 inch fish. And yes I do tourney fish. And yes I can catch a limit of 14 inch bass in the basin most times. You gotta know your area. You will not just go put the boat in the water down there drop the trolling motor and catch em. Those 1983 days are long long gone.

; NOBODY catches their limits most times they go out there... so, you really are a bass tourney fisherman.

for the record, i think they need to make it something like five over 12" and five over 14" or some combo like that. anyhow, the fish are looking a lot better this year, more, bigger and all the 12-13" fish are fat like little footballs. if we can avoid a hurricane fish kill, the future looks bright and may be people will quit complaining.

I don't think I've ever caught a limit of 14" bass in the spillway.

And I catch 12"+ fish in blind river all the time. Sometimes you can't buy a bite but when the fish are biting there are some nice fish down there, just a little harder to find.

my father in law is a badass. used to tournament fish and was successful. he and i fish during the middle of the week a lot, mostly not with each other. he has caught two limits this year and has probably fished 8 times in last month, all of tues-thurs afternoons. i have never caught more than 7 and i have only done that a few times.

100% support it. Maybe if the coonasses would stop loading the boat with 10" bass the fishery could develop.

The "kill the last two and crush da eggs" in South Louisiana is disturbing sometimes.

While we're at it; drop the limit on speckled trout to 10 per person. What the frick do you need 50 pieces of fish for?

I would support the limit change on trout to 15. I would also like to see the min size go from 12" to 14".

Why does a poll matter? Shouldn't it be based off of what is best for the ecosystem?

Thank God that Bayou Black is not in the Basin.

i agree. i think they did it to "debunk" the "myth" that everybody is against the min. size limit. but everybody i know is against it including my father in law who has probably fished the basin over a thousand times in the last 40 years. at least with the Corps of Engineers, I can tell you that the Basin users know better than the scientists.

Yea. One of the few places you can still got meat fishing for bass, and coincidentally my favorite place to fish.

I know people who would hate me for saying this, but you can load the boat in Cataouatche, usually with some nice ones mixed in there

If limits of 14" fish are rare, why in the hell would anybody want a shorter length?
