The spawn is definitely NOT on in Lake Martin.

Weird day yesterday. Couldn't get anything to bite. I even fished the middle of the lake thinking the Sac-a-lait were down in a hole trying to stay warm. Nothing.

Not even a Cat would bite on the bottom.

Good luck out there.

I was off yesterday and did some public pond hopping around the Lafayette area. I did not catch one fish and might have had 3 bites at 3 different ponds. The only fish I saw caught was on a shiner.

I promise, if I did well I would let you know. I only get a few chances to fish each year. If you go in and clean house after me it doesn't make a difference. I'm happy someone gets to eat.

I thought they had the landing closed, and effectively the whole lake???

Used to catch bass full of eggs in April. I know that's hard to believe but sometimes I didn't even start fishing there till late March. Now that was back in the late 80s but I suspect the fish will act similarly now.

I used to clean and eat everything I caught so I knew when the fish had spawned. Sac a lait also were active in April.
