I went directly to the police HQ in Baton Rouge and had mine in 2 weeks.

I'm really happy for those of you who've been able to go to LSP HQ, have fingerprints done and get approved VERY quickly. My frustration is for the many of us who live some distance away from BR so that it's not practical to go to LSP HQ's. It's been demonstrated the process can work very quickly under certain circumstances. OTOH, why should the process continue to run so slowly if you don't get printed at LSP HQ's? Why should I have to travel 5 hours and get fingerprinted at LSP HQ in order to get quick approval? Why should it take 5 mos to get a renewal (my experience) when fingerprints aren't even needed?

Been almost a year since I submitted my prints and application. It's a shame law abiding citizens have to wait this long to do the right thing, while armed criminals care little for the legal process.

I have an Alabama State Pistol License and have CC for years. On my first trip to get one in Morgan County I drove to the office of the Sheriff in Decatur, AL. I took the elevator to the 2nd floor. I walked up to the counter asked for the Pistol License form. I filled it out and the deputy ran the background check on the computer. The deputy commented that I must of done a good job burying the bodies and asked if I wanted the one or five year license. I said five and gave her a $100 bill. She said back up against the blue wall and in no more than ten minutes I had my new ASPL.
