Years ago I remember this being a cool place you could fly fish, hike and wade around some. Just different from typical Louisiana outdoor destinations.

Wanted to revisit and take some family down, just didn't know if it was maintained and as good as I remember. Anyone been recently?

We use to go all the time as a kid and swim, wade, fish, etc.

The main swimming hole by the "waterfalls" near the (new) bridge was kinda trashed up last time I went.

I took the wife out there when we were dating once and we waded and fished and still had a good time.

It's definitely feels different that a lot of Louisiana.

Anywhere on the lower part to launch a yak? It crosses near Cypress/Flora right?

We never went to that section

Seems like it would be a pain to try and kayak from the sections we would go to. You would spend more time dragging than floating.

I'm more interested in the parts in the bottomland.

I've been spending a lot of weekends in Kisatchie lately on the ATV trails. Would like to pack my Kayak next time I go and try the Kincaid Reservoir, or any other recommended areas to fish.

Yeah they are.

Well...let me clarify. At the Claiborne Trails, they actually have the gates at trail entrances that are 50" wide, which blocks access to anything wider. At the Sandstone trail, there are no gates to get into the trail, but the bridges on the trail are only 50" wide.

Last Fall at Claiborne as I was leaving there was a forest ranger with a tape measure checking a guy's side x side (Rhino I think which I know is over 50"). They were at one of the pay stations and his side x side was still on the trailer.

I have a 50" RZR 570 and I have to put my stock tires and wheels on when we go riding anywhere in Kisatchie.

This is why I hate alot of the public outdoor areas in Louisiana.

I'm 50" with stock wheel and tires. They just aren't good grip compared to my blackwaters.
