I use to drop them and dress them. Now I'm too lazy. I now gut shoot them and let the coyotes run them down and dress them.

Amazing. There was nothing left but a pile of semi-digested acorn meal.

I would not have left a deer overnight either. However, I shot the pig right at dark, and was about 2.5 miles down a walk-in trail with AlxTgr waiting for me. I knew he did not want to drag the pig that far, so I brought in the cart the next morning. I should have just cut out the backstraps and left the rest for the scavengers, like I had done with the previous pig I shot.

And btw I didn't get in early decision. I've been sending apps out to some other places now.

They do that around here when they trap them but then the let them lose after castration. Those nutless boars get BIG

That is what we have always done.

A fat sow or a bar is all we will eat. Boars get left.

You will hear all sorts of things to do but the only one that has proven worthy of table fare for me is to do the following. Kill smaller hogs to eat and larger ones to dump in the river. The smaller ones we kill do get cleaned asap. I am not prejudice on the killing, only on the eating!

+1, the big males really arent worth a shite...

Correct. I have had 2 OB'ers and 2 associates out so far. When deer season ends, OB-hog season begins.

I'm no rookie when it comes to bbq and I'm not a fan of smoked wild hog. The hogs around here are simply too lean and the meat sucks up smoke like a sponge. The result is extremely firm meat that wont pull and is akin to chewing a cigarette butt.

If you've got a good way I'd love some tips..

Thanks for the book you wrote

I am on a lease near my house and jumped a hog last year..
I would probably be shooting at them when its cold since I hate fighting mosquitos and snakes in the woods.
I am a fisherman first, but just got back into hunting some.
