I'd give you another upvote for the camo!
Thanks. I got the shirt and hat at Mack’s in Stuttgart 6 or 7 years ago on clearance when they discontinued the KW-1 pattern.
I bought a set of the long sleeve shirt and pants in medium for my son that is still in the bag in my shed. Thanks for reminding me I need to dig it out and put it under the tree for my 11 year old son.
For a rice field or the TX panhandle that pattern is tough to beat.

Beautiful dog. Is she a Llewellin setter?

There is nothing like watching a good dog work. Amazing.
I had a black lab as a gift from an uncle when I was in high school. She was smart and trained easily. Responded well to hand and whistle signals at 100 yards. She would NOT jump into cold water so became 100% pet. I found that out on her first hunt.

Man, that is an awesome story! I’ve always wanted to hunt them.

2 come over the tank about 30 yards high and we crushed them. We're pumped, slapping high fives and discussing how unexpected that was.
10 minutes later, the same thing happened again.
NICE. Nothing like shooting cranes. I know a guy in Pampas with a place with several tanks on it and he gets covered up with ducks, geese and cranes...and only hunts the cranes LOL. Its a blast, especially decoying them....he is basically pass shooting them but I had access to a place in Muleshoe, Lubbock and almost anywhere they wanted to work in Clovis and Portales and decoying them is by far the most exciting hunting I have ever done. Its also the most difficult.....the damned things are hard to decoy. Also had access to an area just north of Los Cruces....hard to beat the duck, goose and crane shooting in the damned desert LOL. And the dove shooting is beyond comparison in north America.....

Thank you. I'm sure she has some Llewellin blood in her, but she's just a "field setter" for lack of a better term.
Her dam is a full sister littermate to this dog.

New Mexico is as close to a bird hunter's dream as exists in the US in my experience. Between the waterfowl (ducks and geese in the desert and at times LOTS of them), crane, cotton top quail and dove it is, in my experience, not duplicated anywhere else in the US. The best part is it is almost all public land, land owners are mostly open to the idea of you hunting birds on their place (don't ask about deer or elk though LOL) and you may hunt an entire season and never see another person. The pheasant hunting is all put and take and only lasts about 4 days a year (they are there year round and thick as cordwood but the season is very short) and the cover where the pheasant find as soon as the state truck tosses them out is nearly impenetrable but even the pheasant hunting can be really good for a few days. I plant to retire for real this time in 2-7 years and I fully intend to spend at least September every year in SE New Mexico shooting dove and teal.

Our guide on the pronghorn hunt was the ranch manager that lived there on the property. When
I asked if he ever hunted the dove or quail they had everywhere, he said only when that's what his wife wants for supper.

have an invite for around Lubbock but haven't pulled the trigger. That is a long way to go for just cranes. I want ducks as well if I go.
We went to Lubbock before Thanksgiving and only killed 4. The crane hunting is slow up there from what I've heard.

We go to Lamesa every year to hunt crane. It’s a fun time and west Texas has a ton of them. The meat is delicious and well worth the drive in my opinion.
