Or you could get a real boat that is powered by gas. By doing so, you could cover more ground, she'd have more room to move around, she could lay under the bimini and you wouldn't look like so broke.
Already got one of those

I love to take the wife with me. I don't understand getting away from an S/O, if they enjoy the outdoors, its one helluva plus. Get two singles instead of one double. If she decides she doesn't like it you are stuck with it.

everyone against the 2 seaters....what do you do with your kids when they want to come with you?
we don't have sitters and camp as a family a lot. we have 2 kids, 7 and 4. i was thinking 2 tandems was the way to go?

I have a two seater. I just rarely use it. I am not totally against them, it's just better to kayak with someone who is in their own.

Canoe may be better choice for family with kids.

What about a convertible tandem? I had one of these, Native Ultimate Tandem loved it but rarely used the tandem set up so I upgraded to a Hobie Pro Angler

My girlfriend was asking the exact same thing, I love her to death but I need some time away from her. I just don't know how to tell her that!

Help me come up with some examples to why we should get 2 - one person kayaks instead of 1 - 2-person kayak
A) You might want to go on a "girls" trip someday - people would think LEZBO if you tandemed..
B) You could beat my fat arse to the good spots.
C) You wouldn't need to hand me a beer every 5 minutes if I had to carry it in my own yak!
