It is now winter, grass is dormant. I have very little weeds around. I put out preemergant before thanksgiving. I will spot spray anything that pops up.

Hopefully the recent freeze killed all the dallisgrass. Should i roundup them to be safe?

From your previous recommendations, we are to put another round of preemergantt out. When should this be done? I am planning on supplemental seeding my yard this year too. My preemergant says wait 6-8 weeks before seeding once preemergant is out.

What else needs to be done for spring/summer? Fertilizer, etc.

Note, i shouldnt have killed off the Bermuda in the fall.....those areas are mud now. is there any reason my dogs wanted to eat Bermuda? it was weird both my dog and the neighbors dog kept wanting to ear Bermuda but nothing else.

My previous threads on this topic:

What weed is this and how do you kill it.

Green Kyllinga Infestation Update now asking about lespedeza

Grass / Weed Identification thread and what kills it. (complete)

Just bought a new house in October and the front lawn is a mess. The only thing active is a bit of clover, but the centipede is obviously fighting with some sort of trash grass for supremacy. I'm definitely going to put down some seed this spring. Not sure if I'm going to go centipede or zoysia.

Right now you should be on cruise control. Be on the lookout for winter broadleaves that may try to sprout. The dreaded spurweed will be coming out in the next few months. Kill it before it makes it spiny seed head - known as stickergrass. Crabgrass preventer applications will be coming up soon as well.

Take your pick .....Atrazine, 2,4-D, Trimec products. They're all pretty safe right now.

Depending on what crabgrass preventer you go with, just read the label for app timing

You fellas make me jealous with all your grass knowledge. I've been on cruise control since the last time the mower shut down. Prob hit it one more time to mulch the remaining leaves, and wait til the clover/shitgrass starts to take over.

I worry about my garden more than my yard.

My gosh what a wasted post about grass. Yall need a hunting or fishing hobby and not worry about dead grass in the winter. I kinda feel sorry for yall a little bit. Its grass and weeds. When it grows high enough you notice cut it and then go enjoy life.

Some of us enjoy and take pride in caring for our lawns that we look out upon every single day. The person who needs a hobby is the douche who complains on a mutually beneficial message board about what other people say on said message board.

Not at all...I reside on my own 10 acres, and you can't even see my yard from the road. Turf management is my profession, and I try to share my knowledge here with those that want to know. Carry on.

This. I have a 3 year old and 5 month old that severely limit my hunting and fishing these days. My lawn work is a 2.5 hour escape from diapers and getting head butted in the nuts.

bootlegger must be one of those uppity HOA presidents with his golden yard of the month plaques hanging in his foyer lmao. Yep smoked out the exact douche canoe I was looking for. Mission accomplished. Just the kinda yard id like to catch a donut in a 2 in the morning or draw a *di*ck* with roundup and leave!!! I bet you peak thru the blinds AFD just wishing a neighborhood kid will step on it or hit a ball on your grass just so you can run out in your crocs and raise hell with a starbucks in your hand. Tell me I didn't just nail that!

i have soo many questions. i'll start with some softballs.

1) In South TX (at my part) the natural grass is Bermuda. If my St Aug slips at all, the Bermuda starts coming up and thru. Is there anything anything I can do to kill or slow the Bermuda. Or do i just have to hope the St Aug overpowers it?

2) I plant winter rye grass in late October every year in my backyard. We have a hunting dog who runs 24/7 in the backyard. If the grass isn't in tip top condition she'll track in mud into the house. So i plant the rye thick so she's always got grass. Is the rye beneficial or harmful to my lawn during dormant/winter months?

3) We don't have rain gutters. There is a spot in the front yard where the natural slope to the street is off because of the previous owners decision to insert a flower bed. Causing water build up and a swampy spot after a good rain. I believe "buttonweed" is the weed that starts coming up in the Spring/Summer due to this predicament in this area. Is my only hope to remove this flower bed so the lawn can drain properly in this area?

hey boot, dont mind the snowflake. they'll throw a tantrum when they realize they are around people who know more then they do. They arent like the real millennials who actually take pride in learning and doing things themselves.

Also for the record, I have a nice yard and I still do a lot of fishing along with multiple other hobbies...
