Area 6
64° 8mph South wind
Mathews lift RS
Yesterday morning I ended up seeing a couple deer, but they stayed in the bottom I was hunting over. One was a doe, but I couldn’t tell what the other was. Wind shifted midday, so I had to make a move. I found a spot on the map I liked, about 2 miles in, where the hardwoods hit a big swamp bottom with a slough running out of it. Got to the truck and the battery was dead. I have a portable boot dryer that I used the night before because my boots were moist from sweating, and I forgot to unplug it. Ended up having a guy pass by that jumped me off, and also invited me to his camp because they were cooking dinner. Stayed up way too late drinking beers and bullshitting with those fellas and slept in this morning.
Yesterday evening I saw some does and possibly a buck that stayed in the bottom. Had 4 does come to 60 yards, but never got closer. This evening I shifted over closer to where they came out and traveled. Hopefully they do what they did yesterday.

I'm in Area 6 and bucks are chasing at night on my cameras.

You’d think if they’re chasing at night, they would’ve been chasing during the day too, with the cold weather we’ve been having, but I haven’t seen it at all. I didn’t see a single deer this evening. Didn’t even see, or even hear, the hogs that were there all evening yesterday. I’m defeated. My plan has been to hunt tomorrow morning, pack up camp and head home, but after this evening, I’m not sure if I’m even getting up to hunt in the morning.

I know - it's been frustrating.
I start seeing them around 6pm all the way until about 5:30am....then it goes dead. Saturday I'll probably hunt all day and try to fill my last buck tag.

Neighbor killed the buck I’ve been after. Saw it on his camera yesterday morning and whacked it this one. I’m pretty disheartened. I wish they would outlaw cameras and corn. At least they have a chance of getting away at my dog camp. Cameras may get me to quit tree stand hunting.

Got the story today. Had him on camera middle of the night. He took off the next day to hunt. Sat all morning and gave up. Walked to his house and was letting his dogs out when he popped up on camera. He then proceeded to walk back and shoot him.

That's not hunting at that point.
I like using cameras to know what's out there but people using them like that pisses me off

Agree. I use them because others do. I’m probably done. I killed a good one last year because I saw he was there the afternoon before. There was zero feeling of accomplishment. I actually felt bad.
