I haven't hunted here much, mostly in MS. They are in MS at the lease, but here it's hard to tell. We did see some fresh rubs this morning. If they're not now its getting close

Where at in Ms? I'm in southern Ms and they aren't chasing yet. It's still in the 70s though and there's acorns everywhere.

Pickneyville, near the river. We're hunting hills but it's really close to the floodplain land. I can hear duck hunters on Lake Mary from the stand all the time. They started chasing right before Christmas, and we're starting to rut harder Tuesday when I left. I'll be back after NYE and hopefully the rut is in full swing

We are supposed to get below freezing a couple times next week. Hoping that really kicks them off and gets them moving around a little bit.

Sitting on the hill out here so there are some big oak trees on it (since it doesn't flood) and I don't see a single damn acorn on the ground. The deer tore that shite up. The doe my buddy saw yesterday evening was eating dead brown grass

Any word on the rut around Madison County in MS? Been hunting all week ain't seen much action. 2 does, no shot. Ran a hoss out this morning getting to stand. Couldn't tell what, large mass. This has been a disappointing week, considering what I'm used to here.

I can't wait til Monday. High will be 45 here. Hopefully it will still be too wet to do any field work next week. I've had a terrible three week run. I hope I can get one good week in before we start doing much around the farm.

Damn. I missed a nice 8 pt wall hanger durning bow season and saw a few does and yearlings, only got a shot on one doe the week before Christmas. My brother shot 3 does. So we have some meat in the freezer. I'll probably take another one or 2 during primitive arms if I can

I'm not taking any does even if I see one. Shot a hog last week but the meat was bad. Got a 10 on camera that I'm hoping slips up.

Just had a spike chase a doe and 2 yearlings right under me. I guess he's too horny to realize the rut is long gone. The does here are already back in groups.

Maybe the yearling doe is about to come in.

Do does split up during the rut? Im in my 3rd year of hunting so im still new but im still getting pics of 2 to 3 does at a time up until two days ago when i took the card out...finally got bucks on the cam though the last 3 weeks a big 10 and two more nice mature 8's..i dont think they are quite in rut yet here though

For the most part they do. You'll still see yearling does with their mom. They run the buttons off when the rut is about to start and you usually won't see adult does together. The mom will even run the yearling doe off for the couple of days she is actually ready to breed.

ETA if you are starting to get pictures of bucks you haven't gotten before then the rut is getting close. Good luck on that big 10

My buddy sitting 150 yards down the canal from me shot a buck this evening. Not big but not bad for the swamp back here, they haven't killed many deer back here in recent years
