Crazy part is, I haven't heard a single shot in the last two weeks.

That's the best part.

Are the rice fields still outside Ponchatoula? My Dad used to take us back there as kids.

Bear Lights out with Slick tricks

Weather can't be any nicer than this. Attempted a late morning hunt earlier to no avail. Hoping to sling some carbon fiber into a doe or good buck

No its coons. It's just a little 2x4 box with mesh on the bottom screwed to a tree.
No bears until you get to Patterson area.
On second thought it may be a Squatch...it's feeling a little squatchy today.

I ended up with 1 mallard and 4 GWT...If I could shoot it would have been mallards and Gadwall...
I'm blaming it on my heavy coat...shot much better once I took that thing off...

2 guys I met at the landing coming in had 8 mallards and 2 gadwall...they were hunting a lease south of I-10...

I do like pot roasted teal though...

Didn't post in the thread when I sat but made a hunt in St. Landry parish this evening. Got this 210 pound 8 point for the first buck of the season and my biggest Louisiana buck.

Very nice Mitch. That's just a great all around trophy. I've shot some big deer, but nothing with any kind of symetry.

Congrats.

Hey Sport. What are you doing up at this ungodly hour? Oh, that's right . . . how's she doing? What did you name her?

Thanks man. I've hunted a bunch this year and hadn't seen any shooters. Funny how fast it happens. He popped out about 50 yards down a lane. Walked to the base of my tree, smelled some estrus spray and walked in other lane. It was a long 20 yard shot with my 270!
