You mean to tell me you'd rather kill a young midget than an old midget? The young one has so many more chances to create little christmas elves. The old ones just shoot out a poof of lucky charms dust
Well that settles it

Only like 3 or 4 places do

The majority of turtle soup in restaurants isn't made with turtle meat. I'm 95% positive that Palace Café in NOLA doesn't use real turtle meat
I make a mock turtle soup that is better than most I've had at restaurants. One day I found turtle meat at Rouses and got all excited, but when I cooked it with the real stuff it wasn't nearly as good. I found the meat fatty, oily, and bland. Added veal to it to boost the flavor.
Admittedly, I'm a reptile lover so there's some bias. But a fully mature buck is what - 6-8 years old? I feel the same way when I see the gator hunters popping a 13 footer. Something that has endured for 75 years gets killed for a $200 paycheck. The farmed 6 footers yield better quality hides anyway from what I've read. To each his own, but for'me it's about respect.

Meh, would have let it go, have no desire to kill something that is 3 to 4 times my age.

Another one. Wow
Think of it this way - if it were not a crime to kill bald eagles, would you shoot one for target practice? Most people wouldn't because there is a certain level of respect for something so graceful and awe-inspiring. But you probably wouldn't think twice about shooting a buzzard. Any animal that has lived for 50-100 years on this Earth has earned his place.

Up vote. This guy gets it.

Exactly. The chances of an animal getting to that stage in its life is pretty slim and impressive. He has probably been around since before WWI, I wouldn't be shooting him just to post a picture and make a soup, same thing for big gators.
Then again I think for the most part the human species sucks, Ill take the animals. I just enjoy nature, Ive prob gone hunting more times than not knowing that I am not going to kill or see much yet I still jump at every chance I get. A day spent in nature is better than one spent with most other humans if you ask me.

I'm sorry that you don't understand the most basic concept of an "analogy." Try reading it again next year after you finish 4th grade - it might make more sense then.

Protected bird of prey(national symbol) vs. Vulture(protected BTW) somehow applies to the taking of a commonly consumed reptile that is not protected, and age is the limiting factor. Wow! WOW! And then there is the respect non-sense. Is this place free?
