Indeed it is... Too many of them down here.. The Merrit Island Wildlife Refuge is chalk full of them..

Yeah, they are a cool looking bird. I stumbled onto one of their rookeries last spring near Lake Palourde. There were probably 200-300 of them nesting.

They are not very common in Louisiana except at the rookeries. I've seen more in Texas and especially Florida. The numbers seem to be on the rise, though, in Lousiana.

I see them all thru duck season on the coast. There is a rookery near Jug Lake. I'd like to go shoot some pics of them, it's a preppy persons dream, nothing but pink and green along the location.
