I believe they are referencing the bow dipping back toward the waterline. In most boats the bow maybe level or even curving upward when compared to the rest of the boats sheer line.

I've noticed the dropping bow on other aluminum boats as well. Xpress and Alumacraft.

The 21 or 23 Grady DC is in my retirement budget. The new ones are called "Freedom" series but I might go for older used one. Depends on how much I end up having to spend on a condo in Destin on the harbor with a slip. Not there yet.

Inshore fishing
Nearshore trolling
Offshore dropping/trolling on calm days or whenever freezer gets light
Booze Cruising the harbor and bay for sunsets
Crab Island (or not)

I need the real estate market to crash while the stock market stays high. Any chance of this happening?

Correct. I'm pretty sure the reason they're done that way is because you really can't contour a single sheet of metal to achieve the same shape as a glass boat. Its not a "developable" shape, so it would require more joints and more metal to have a flat keel line AND a rise at the gunnel.

But, having taken water over the bow before, I'm not a fan at all of the lines on the mass produced aluminum boats

I have a 20’ Hydrasport Ocean Skiff DC that looks similar to the Grady pictured above and love it. Got it bc I was fishing Venice a lot and wanted the higher sides and V to run the river. I’ve regularly been 30 miles offshore out of Venice and Fourchon until I lost all confidence in my motor. Just repowered with a 200 Suzuki and swapped trolling motors to an iPilot and plan to be back out slaying snapper again. As good an all around boat as I’ve ever fished out of.

21’ is plenty unless you’re hardheaded or stupid. I fish out of an 18 1/2 bass boat to the barrier islands if it’s calm or stay on the inside if it’s rough. The worst thing you can be as a fisherman is inflexible, take what you’re given and figure out how to make it work. Catch redfish and bass on the rough days, trout on the nice ones or do both if things change. Roll with it brother, the spice of life

Ok, gotcha. I’m mostly going to be perch fishing in NWLA with it but I would love to head down South every once and a while and marsh fish. I figured I would try this boat out for a bit, I can always trade it in and buy a bigger boat later.

Yes there is actually a chance. You just need a cat 5 hurricane to hit head on.
