Looking at buying an O/U to use primarily for Dove. I don't want to spend a ton of money on an really nice O/U so I am leaning towards the Stevens 512 Goldwing. Looks pretty solid and the reviews are pretty good. Just curious is anyone has any experience with this gun or maybe a recommendation for something comparable.

Put "Paging wickowick" in your title, he's the man to talk to about O/U and side by side shotguns

If I go with one anytime soon, this one is really attractive. I'll probably just wait until I can get a White Lightning - but CZ has been producing some amazing values lately. It is not fancy, but a really, really good value.

some of the CZ side-by-sides have had problems with getting both barrels to function consistently. unusual for CZ products.
i jumped in with both feet and bought a citori 525 sporting, but you can get by for less $ on a quality o/u.

I found a really nice looking used Beretta 686. Love that gun.

I like the looks and feel of the CZ. I wouldn't mind one in a .28 or .16 gauge just to see how it would perform.

the biggest PITA about getting CZ's fixed is waiting on the parts from the chek republic

If I'm not mistaken they are produced in Turkey. Maybe by Huglu.

Would need to do a little research to find out for sure though.

1st, do not look at just the new market. Used quality guns are made to last generations...

2nd, Hold different brands. Some guns feel like a wand and others like a 2x4 decide what feels good to you...

I picked up a Stoeger Condor last year for that same purpose: I wanted an O/U that didn't break my wallet and that I wouldn't mind beating up. Works for me

Yildiz 20. I use it for ducks too. Never failed.

But yeah, you need that 3rd shot to cripple another duck.

Most likely. Like I said, they are produced there so it's safe to say the parts come from there as well.

I have always felt if i had a lot of walking to do (upland hunting) or a long walk to the huting grounds that an O/U is really heavy to carry around. That extra barrel makes difference when you are in the field all day.

Actually if you look at it, the weight difference is negligible.
