I wanted to go so bad today, but with the rain, work and this bad cold I'm fighting, it just wasn't to be.

Hoping the worst of the rain is over. Seems like every time I come to this lease the weather is shite.

It feels good to be in the stand though. First week of the season I was able to hunt.

Area 2. Rain finally stopped. Hunting in a long sleeve t-shirt.....not cold at all. No bambi's down yet today.
Quick question from a fairly new hunter....do deer typically bed down during rain or move or what? Better to hunt right after a heavy rain or before? What's the general theory on this?

I'm no biologist but I've found that you get alot of movement right after a heavy rain

Never had much success in a heavy rain, but deer love to slip around in a light rain. I would say they also move about the same amount before and after a front moves through.

If I was a duck hunter, I'd be in luck, there are wood ducks all over the place back here.

I killed a good deer there last year...I think the moon had them fricked up. Back in Shelby County now, gonna hunt hard Thursday - Saturday.

If it is really cold and raining then they'll move around a good bit(to warm up).
If it is windy and rainy they won't move a whole lot (can't smell or hear well).
I have noticed them to be more active during a light rain, or just after one as well.

Fine deer on that side of the state. A little north of there in Bullock County has some serious deer.
