I did not get a boat until I was 40 so I had to learn to back it up. It took awhile to get comfortable and not embarrass myself.

First practice backing straight if you can back up straight 50 yards you are 90% there.

Once you can consistently backup straight you will then be able to turn while backing up.

Go to a church on a non-Sunday and just work on going straight backwards.

When loading a boat with current back the trailer at an angle INTO the current so you will drive the boat against the current to the trailer.

If the current is going West then have the trailer facing West so you are driving the boat East onto the trailer.

if this makes you feel any better, my dad's old barber put a trailer hitch on his front bumper just to back his boat down the launch. i'd have to give up boating before I did that. old fart loved to fish though

Put your hand at the 6 o'clock position on the wheel. Which ever way you want your trailer to is the way you want your hand to go. So if you want your trailer to go to the right (as in your right side while driving), move your hand to the 5 o'clock position.
