Just to add and I hate hunting has come to this. I brought in a 5pt about 7-8 years ago to processor I killed in Jackson/Bienville WMA. When I put it on the ground a guy maybe late 30s early 40s said loudly to his son who looked to be around 13-14, "That's the kinda deer you don't wanna kill, Bambi." I just shook my head but I could tell the son was uncomfortable. With social media even bigger now it's become even worse, at least imo.

I brought in a 4pt last year that had plenty of meat and when laid right next to a 7pt was actually the same exact size.

Because they were probably both the same age.

I'm mostly a public land hunter who doesn't get the opportunity to hunt much, I"m gonna take my deer when I can get them. If a 4pt walks out before a doe, he's going down, I don't care if someone else saw him as a wall hanger in 2 years.

So you don't want to put in much work and just go and smoke the first thing that walks out when you have the time? You can't just blame "trophy hunters" for being against this mindset, that's you wanting regulations to cater specifically to your lifestyle.

I’ve been hunting the woods I hunt since a kid, so yea there isn’t too much work to put in. I scout a few times around September but already have my spots. I’ve killed a 10pt and several 8pts where I hunt. Again, if you want bigger antlers then stay in a lease that has that mindset. It shouldn’t be a statewide rule/law whatever, though.

No baiting besides foodplots, reduce the number of tags, add antler restrictions to certain WMAs or at least portions of them. Add more draw areas for ducks similar to south farm.

I agree all of your post except this. Why no charters?

Move duck season to when the ducks are actually here.

Huge difference between only wanting bigger antlers and letting every dumb young buck get shot. Spread and point restrictions are the most practical way to keep people from shooting immature deer. A balanced age structure makes the herd more productive and behave more naturally. That's all most people want.

I'm mainly pointing out that you're railing on "trophy hunters" for ruining hunting by being selfish snobs when you freely admit you just want the regs to let you be lazy and shoot the first dumb year and a half old buck that wanders by. It's fine if that's what you enjoy about hunting, but don't act all high and mighty about it.

I just feel like all the charter boats running every day catching limits of fish has put a hurt on the trout population. Soon I think we will see a limite reduction on trout due to overfishing. People can blame cold winters all they want but I don’t think that is the problem. Just my opinion but I might be wrong.

I’ve read both arguments and people swear to that either being true or false all the time.

Got great friends that are trophy hunters, I don’t think they are snobs or selfish. I even hunt at their leases and follow their rules and I don’t say a word about my beliefs. That’s why I think it’s great you can have your own land or lease and make those rules.

I’m not sure what you are meaning by lazy. I’m a public land hunter who walks a long ways to my spots, I only mention that due to replying to that. I also think public land hunters have become the crossfitters and atheist of the hunting world, congrats on being able to walk and carry stuff.

I’m far from high and mighty, very far from it. Sometimes it’s difficult to type out what I’d normally speak to you irl. I just don’t want more rules and regulations added to hunting. My buddy and I took a retired New Orleans firefighter hunting years back, he didn’t grow up hunting. He killed a spike and was thrilled, it was cool to see. I’ve also taken young kids and even an older kid/young man hunting and he killed a button buck, his first deer. He was also thrilled. I’m just saying not everyone cares about the size, many obviously do.

Size limit on Bucks (excluding kids). Lower the bag limit on deer to 3 ( state wide). Attempt a minimum age limit to help harvest only mature bucks.

If that's the case we should see a decrease in redfish stocks in Venice. Looks like most run out and catch 15-20 reds a day now.

Make primitive weapons actually primitive again. No more high powered cartridge (35 whelen) and no optics. Open/ Iron sights only.

No crossbows during bow season except for the handicapped or over 65.

I don't get all the downvotes. What about "primitive" is hard to understand? Just because it's a single shot doesn't make it primitive. Especially the 35W. It's basically a necked up 30-06. Might as well extend regular rifle season.

Man, I don't know about this. Hunting Maurepas without my long tail go-devil would be tough for me. I usually throw the pirogue on top and get way back into the swamp with go-devil, then take rest of the way in pirogue.

I'll listen to concerns, whats the deal with mud motors being banned? I don't see the problem on Maurepas...
