So I bought some TERRO ant killer bait stations, and set six of them up in the areas I was seeing the ants. After one day of the traps being out, the ants are gone. What's weird though, is that the bait traps have no dead ants in them. What gives? Its been I guess a week and a half now, and the kitchen has been ant free.

They crossed the border to your neighbor's house.

They feed on it, share it with other ants, then die off. It doesn't kill as soon as they eat it.
Awesome you did the baits instead of spraying. I own a pest control company and tell my customers all the time never to spray those little things. Terro works well if the nest isn't massive. This will sound weird but Terro works too fast. When the nest is small, you don't need to kill all that many ants to kill off the nest. When the nest is huge, you want those ants to be able to have more time to share that food and then kill off the nest.
You can go online if you have this problem down the road and get an ant paid gel called Advion. That's what we use.

A sugar, borax, and water solution will do the same thing and it's cheaper. I mix up the ingredients in a pint jar, pour some of it on cotton balls in a pint jar lid and set it out where you see them. Couple of days, at the most, and they're all gone. They drink this sweet solution and take it back to the nest where it forms boric acid and kills them. We always called those little ants "piss ants" up here.

Kill it with fire. From a tiny little blow torch.

Also known as the Bigfoot ant. They’re naturally blurry.
