I'm still gonna have to sort out what to do with the steering ram. With this engine, it hits the transom when you turn all of the way to starboard. I can either raise the engine, move the steering ram, or put a plate on the side where it hits.
It would be nice as hell to have a new engine with tilt and trim. Not in the budget though. I have $1k to do everything, and am in it around $700 now. Damn trailer cost $500 to get roadworthy

I'm working on a similar project with a 16' Carolina Skiff. I replaced the transom, pulled everything out of it and repaired some spots on the floor. I started prepping the outside of the hull for painting and haven't had time to work on it in about a year. It came with a 25hp Tohatsu with a busted lower unit, but I scooped a complete 30hp Tohatsu from a guy for a couple hundred bucks intending to use parts from the lower unit. When I picked up the 30hp Tohatsu he actually said it runs fine he just mostly bought the hull for a duck boat and they runner tiller handles. He just wanted to get rid of it so that was a pretty good score. I want to add a larger front deck and rear deck but have went quite figured out how I want to set it up.
