Well it's got to be visible to the ducks too.

Eta: Milo takes them too long to find. Wheat is a bitch to sink.

I'm open to other ideas.

I never recall saying that I bait, because I didn't say it and I don't bait. In a previous post, I said that feeding does work, and that is the truth. All I said was that sometimes it doesn't matter how good of a hunter you are, like when there are no ducks. You are the one that that told shooter35 that if you are a good hunter, you don't have to bait and I said that you were wrong, because you are wrong in saying that. Sometimes not even bait is good enough. So get your shite straight

If youre' a good duck hunter you dont' constantly hunt in places that dont' have ducks, you adjust and follow the birds and dont' resort to baiting because baiting is for people who just want to shoot there gun a bunch and dont' appreciate the fact that a man can sit in a blind and watch the sun come up, enjoying a quality hunt.

I like to shoot limits much as the next fella but resorting to baiting to scratch that itch is bullshite.

I agree, but being in college I don't have much time to hunt areas that aren't close to where I live. It just so happens that my local WMA is horrible this year. But during my Christmas break I will chase them from the coast up to NELA, so Ill let you know if I find them

I've heard of sweet potatoes, not sure if they were being serious or not. But feeding with corn is definitely a great way to kill ducks (and get caught).

Raw rice. If you're baiting your average should be 6 per hunter.

To kind of get back on track...

So what is your normal kill numbers for the first split? What area you hunting? (Not the specific WMA but what part of the state)

What do think is the reason your numbers are down this year?

The new combines are so good they don't waste anything. guess we need to go back to the old machines so we can kill some ducks

Hunting in SELA, about 45 minutes from New Orleans. In recent years, we have not been very consistent, but at least some hunts we killed a decent amount of birds. For example, last year we went one morning and killed 2 ducks and the next day a 3 man limit without a real change in weather or location. At the very least we saw ducks flying around. This year, I have been on several hunts and could literally count the number of ducks I saw the whole hunt on two hands. And we have more or less averaged a bird per hunt.

I can't shoot for shite. I average about two and a half boxes of shells per hunt. The other guys I hunt with are about the same. We definitely should have a limit every time we go.
