Any of you guys ever hunt in or around Abilene? I'm moving there for a couple years and I don't really know what to expect. Nothing that I have found online jumps out.

Get in a lease. Great deer hunting within 200 miles of Abilene. Very little public land. Put in for NM and Colorado hunts, as you’ll be reasonably close.

This.

Start saving now, the average decent lease is going to run you about $3k a season right now. Plenty of good public land not far north in Western Kansas for bowhunting and pheasant. Unless you have oilfield money or your business will take you on corporate hunts, Texas is not a great hunting destination.

Lot of great waterfowl hunting around Lubbock- which isn’t too far from Abilene

Go north about two hours you get in the Crowell, Poducah area.

This area holds plenty of big deer and there's usually land for lease that doesn't break the bank.

It's all 1 buck counties

Used to hunt in Aspermont north of Abilene. Had some really good deer up there.
