How many of you use a gps for route tracking etc. going to hunt public out of state in an area I’m not familiar with in November, trying to see if it’s worth it to buy a gps vs say just using the tracker function on onx

OnX on your phone. If the cell service will be bad, pre load the areas you’ll be in for off line mode. Amazing tool. No reason for a separate gps unit.

The tracker function on OnX is awesome. Just have to remember to download offline maps for the area that you're in. I put my phone on airplane mode and the battery will last all day no problem. I carry a compass and charge pack just in case, though.

I use onx with offline maps but I have a garmin running watch and I also use that sometimes, the gps in the watch is much better if you’re trying to be really granular on your track.

It'd be awesome if Garmin and OnX could sync up.
