Just so the OP is aware "Good" hunting on the northshore is seeing 1-2 deer every couple of hunts. You are paying for convenience, not top notch hunting.

I am in two clubs both decent, one is if it's brown it's down we average about 1.5 deer per member per year. On another club we manage it pretty strictly and we kill the same number of deer but one doe per member and any other deer must be over 4 yo. Hunting better there as you see more deer but we shoot a lot less deer.

Finding something like I outlined above is tough, both clubs I am in haven't had an opening in over 12 years. Each has a long waiting list if something ever opens. There are clubs out there you must be in the right place at the right time however to find them

That was my plan this year. Unfortunately you can't keep stands up in the Pearl River WMA, otherwise I wouldn't even consider finding a club..

I thought for sure it was a prank at the picture requirements.

I'm not in any club - is it common to take pictures sitting on deer? What's the purpose?

I assume it's to scale it for size but it's stupid as hell

South Tangipahoa Hunting Club borders the west side of our property on Turnpike Road. I think they kill a few deer there. The property was part of a USAAF bombing ranging during WW2.

I just moved to Mandeville in May. I would love a quick afternoon bowhunting spot but those leases are too much for what I'm looking to do.

I am planning on going hang a stand in Big Branch. Just a spot to kill some time and hopefully a pig or doe

I bowhunt the refuge with two buddies and we see plenty. All kinds too, sometimes in big pockets of 20 or more slipping through that natural tall growth. We are from that general area though and know where to climb up a tree. Not in a club either. Where we go is a hard hunt, but it definitely pays off at the end of the year.

Bucks only, hard to find an open spot and they run dogs...

Lake Ramsay is not too far from you, and they're bow hunting only.

Rules seem a little silly. But picture in your mind the average south Louisiana deer hunter. This club probably has many of those That's why there are so many rules

Yea you right! We've prolly been in the same beer line at all these hippy jam band shows and didn't know it.

Being from Winnsboro (I live in Madisonville, work in Nola..no hunting down here though), it's an easy drive for me from my parent's house to get to Tensas in the early mornings to get a good spot. My cousin and his buddy have been scouting and killing deer on the refuge since the late 90s...to say they know some good spots would be a sturdy understatement. I started bowhunting the refuge 7 years ago...We usually stay out there all day too. We will pack a lunch and eat it at the 4-wheeler then climb up in a different spot and stay til dark...We saw well close to 15 bears this year and approximately 50 hogs between all of us..and we still saw a lot of deer.

The weekend the arctic blast came through this past year, we all total saw about 15 different bucks at various spots, probably close to 40 does/yearlings. They were rutting hard and loving that cold arse weather.

There are definitely deer, but don't tell anyone
