Bring it on, I say. Not sure my life would be that much different... Outside of the weekly barges, we are pretty self contained.

I've fantasized about a SHTF scenario since I was a little kid. I remeber looking at my grandpa's Cabela's trying to figure out what all I needed. Then in the 5th grade I read Alas Babylon and was hooked. I have made it a hobby to be prepared. I have no fear of life without lights.

Yeah, I always felt like we needed a cleansing. A reset the cosmic time machine. I'm in a place where I could do fine, but worry a bit about relatives. Trying to get them all up here anyway.

Holy. shite.

Pat Frank.

Top 5 for me.

The world went back to the Neolithic in less than 6 months.

And then they made moonshine...

A positive, self-determined attitude is the best survival tool. Many people have fallen into a pattern of learned helplessness and would simply sit around and die or be killed. Many more will revert to a more primitive state and steal, kill, and rape. I will have no problem purging those that do. The planet and mankind would be better for it.

Have it in my night stand. Made my wife and kids read it. She became a prepper. Then after she read Patriots and One Second After, she demanded we do MORE. It's fun for us. We incorporate it into our usual hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping.

Absolutely agree with you but it's not a popular sentiment, at least publicly..

Not popular but true. We have been letting dead weight multiply unchecked. Sooner or later something is going to happen and all the "safety nets" will be gone and it will be every man for himself. Those with weak mental/physical make up will perish. Nature is cruel and does not discriminate. My personal feeling is that a global epidemic will set it off.
