How to fix swollen wood gate?

I have a wooden gate that will no longer close, is it easiest just to sand it down? Probably need to get rid of a 1/4”.

Sanding it sounds like a pain- use a saw.

It may be sagging from the hinge. If it’s only touching at the top that is likely your problem rather than swelling.

Take the board off, rip 1/4" off on table saw, put board back on

Really don't want to wait because the gate keeps my dog in. I may just go with a saw, just would hate to cut to much and then in Sept-Oct the gate be screwed up.

or a cheap electric hand planer....much faster

Why not just notch the post?That way it will still work when the swelling goes down.
