I have no idea. I always bring to a boil early to dissolve all seasonings, then fire her back up when everybody starts arriving.

The melting point is like 1200 degrees. Turning it to gas is nearly impossible with my burner.

Blue bug boiler only requires 8 gallons of water to boil 1 sac of bugs. It only takes 8 min to bring water to a boil. The real question is how long does it take to get water to a boil when you put the bugs in the water. To me this is the most critical time the faster you can get them to a boil and start cooling them down the better the crawfish taste and peel. This process only takes 2 min in the blue bug boiler where the standard pot takes considerabley longer.
