I need small pistol primers.
Good luck. At the Bossier gun show a few weeks ago I bought 1K small rifle primers, trying to stay ahead of my needs. I shoot >1500 SR primers/year on prairie dog hunts. Visited some w/ the owner and he said a bad primer shortage was coming. He said a lot of the dealers he knows are having to wait months to get their primer orders filled. Could've been shooting me a line, but it didn't seem like it. I can't imagine availability will improve soon given all the social unrest. When I put in my Midway order, I noticed two of the primers I use were out o stock.

I don't reload, but I'm reading all over the net that reloading supplies are drying up just like loaded ammo is.
Has that happened in the past ammo panics? I don't remember people saying so.
Are we just buying up that much stuff? It almost feels like we're getting cut off...
I know the covid stuff put a dent in things. But it feels like it's bigger than it should be.

Y'all remember the days of being a brand snob?
"Blazer Brass? Nope, I'm only running S&B 124gr in the surplus white boxes".
I was always happy to shoot Blazer. It’s dirty as shite but it gets the job done.
Also, just FYI, gun broker seems to have plenty of .22 ammo.

The dealer I buy my primers/powder from said he’s sold 10 Dillon presses in the last 2 months. Plus all the powder he can’t keep in stock. Forget about Varget, that shits getting hard to find locally to avoid the hazmat fees of online

Always considered WWB dirty as crap, avoided it for the most part as overpriced for what you got (although now I assume I have 2 cases, since that's what the Herter's Target I found is). I still probably wouldn't buy Remington UMC, unless I run low and that's the only stuff around, as it's been so inconsistently loaded; worse than any reloads I've shot. I had an almost squib once, you could see the bullet come out the barrel and fall to the ground before it hit the target.
I've got some Yavex (Turkey) stuff, only shoot it through the stronger builds like Sig and CZ because it's borderline +P.
My preference and supply in approx order had been:
S&B, MEN NATO, Fiocchi, Geco NATO. Top preference and my pistols all ran that well.
PMC, American Eagle- ran good, but no better than the above, and tended to cost more.
Blazer Brass- ran good, but was softer shooting; have a couple cases for the guns I don't want to break.
Aguila, Magtech, PPU- works, dirty and smelly, I'd tend to see some powder sparks on discharge with Magtech. If I saw it around 17 cents or so I'd get a case.
I recently shot some of the Aguila I'd had about a decade or so.
Like I said, I would avoid WWB and UMC, and wouldn't even consider steel (despite having it in a couple other calibers). Now, I've added a case of Tula in 9.

Gunbroker is an auction. I wouldn't buy ammo that way, although I've done it in the past (through Auction Arms, now gunauction dot com). I'd got a case of Jing An 9x18 (Chinese copper-washed steel case) about 15 yrs ago.
I'm also not looking for 22 this go around, I have quite a bit, and don't use it much. And my 22's are picky; I have a High Standard that I only shoot SV through, and a Beretta that only runs nice with CCI Blazer. Got a rifle that doesn't seem to want to cycle without HV in it, either. I do have a revolver and bolt gun that disposes of everything, and my Ruger is pretty good about that too.

I know it's more of already having stuff, but there'd be people saying they had no problems finding primers or powder, when everyone was scraping around for loaded ammo.

But this time, I'm seeing a lot of like you posted- as in, good luck if you need something, it's not there.

I just ordered 150 rounds for $60. Take what I can get these days. TMJ Speer Lawman.

When I bought my powder the other day from Midway the shipping was free and their hazmat fee was only $11. Factor in their lower prices compared to local retail (IF you can find it locally) and you’ll save yourself some money. The key is to buy large quantities of powder (e.g. 8# jugs, not 1# cans) once you figure out what you need.
ETA: I’ve been researching a relatively new line of powders lately called Shooters World. They’re made in Czechoslovakia by a company that’s been making powder a long time. Up until 5 years ago, they made the powders sold by Accurate Arms. SW powders makes a powder called Precision that some folks in the benchrest community are trying to use to replace Varget since supplies for Varget are so unreliable. Midway carries SW powders. Most of them cost only $20/pound. I bought 4# the other day. Hoping I like them.

Haandloading supplies always dry up to some degree w/ panic buying whenever there’s a mass shooting or social turmoil in the US. In the mid 90’s there was a shortage of all primers, not related to any of the usual factors. ALL primers were nearly impossible to find for a year or so. Never found out what happen to cause the shortage. I think of lot of current shortages are just supply and demand: when loaded ammo brings a premium price and manufacturers are struggling to keep up, the individual components will be shifted to the loaded ammo markets and away from handloaders.
