Can anyone recommend a decent fishing spot maybe an hour or so outside of Houston.

I don't have a boat and want to take my 15 yr old son fishing for the day at some place that are actually biting that can be accessed from a pier or bank

anyone been recently and can recommend somewhere ? we have been to a couple of parks that do not have anything biting.

Brazos Bend State Park. Watch out for those big lizards they have in there though.

See if you can click the link below and zoom out, Christmas Bay if across the road from Surfside beach, if you can find a place to get in it you can catch reds, flounder and specs. Also the surf is good under certain conditions, north wind is best.

Put a shrimp under a popping cork about two feet and wade out waist deep or so.

I used to live in Cypress and fished here often with good results

I used to hit up some small streams in the Friendswood area for fun. Favorite spot was Magnolia Creek/Bayou under a bridge near a bike path not far from Countryside Park (29.493638°, -95.156642°). You could probably walk/ride the bike path all day and fish in spots.

Lots of parks in that area with ponds, and some of them provide access to Clear Creek.

I taught him how to fish when he was a little kid at that park. Crazy that he's almost done high school and going of to college soon. And I guess it's been longer than i thought since I've fished that park. Probably almost 10 years ago. I have no idea what it's like now.

When the wind gets right and the water temps heat up, fishing the surf is legit and easy to do. Anywhere from entrance 2 in surfside to the pass and from the pass all the way down to jamaica beach is great surf fishing in the spring and summer. Look for a north wind or light wind in general and 73+ degree water temp and the surf will turn on.

I've lived in Sienna for almost 14 years and have never fished at Kitty Hollow. Always just bring the kids and fish the ponds all throughout Sienna. When I first moved in years ago, I had a spot I fished regularly and pulled 3-5 pound bass out of all the time. Then they came in and expanded the pond and it screwed everything up.
