Looks like we'll be closed at least 1 more weekend, probably 2 more though. The gauge at Pearl River needs to be below 15.5 to keep it from overtopping the Indian Bayou bridge.

Im about to start work on my place to build my own range.

Will look something like this

Dirt Berm

Build a cross tie target stand in front of the berm.

Im going to buy a Texas Shooting Star target and have a bunch of Ar500 steel targets as well.

I bought a bullet trap and just made a wall with some old wood to put behind it.

Obviously the bullets would just go through the wood but it’s there for peace of mind . The bullet trap catches them as long as you hit the target.

I wanted to do what you are doing, but too expensive.

I had some dozer work done last year and my dozer guy pushed up a bunch of dirt for me. All I have to do is move it with my tractor. I also have a bunch of railroad timbers that my grandfather had in a barn. Just going to be time and labor to get most of it done. The shooting star is about 1K but splitting that with my dad.

Indian Bayou bridge

The great bridge that they took donations for to overcome the flooding, but didn't think to build it 2 feet higher.

I've been with the range for almost 10 years now and have never heard anything about that.

Back in the 90s they took donations to build a higher bridge that would "keep the range open year round". They built it about 1 foot higher than the old bridge. Also they said part of that money would build a 200 yard range. 25 years later and here we are.
