The 2.5hp Suzuki does awesome on my 15' Old Town Discovery Sportsman. I have dubbed it the Rouganoe.

Can you lay your Suzuki on it's side without draining the fuel/running it dry?

The 2.5 HP DF2.5S2 is $200 less than the Honda or Tohatsu, near identical specs to the Tohatsu.

But if I can't lay it on it's side (short term during travel, long term upright), it's a no-go.

Yes. That's how I travel with it all of the time . it has stayed on its side overnight and for periods exceeding 12 hours and I've never had any issues with it.

ETA: I'll take pics of it when I get home but it says which side to lay it on physically on the motor. There is a sticker.

it is 40" wide in the middle. Super stable, and bulletproof. I've done just about everything in that canoe.

I've hunted 3 full grown men out of it and killed a limit of birds; I've caught plenty of bass out of it, I even troll out of it for sacaulait pulling crankbaits, and it has ferried numerous deer back to the trucks after they met their demise. It weighs 118lbs and fits in the bed of my truck. I love that I can do everything I want with it solo but it still has the capability to hold 2 or 3 guys. Weight capacity is supposedly 1600lb but I've never tested it.

Limit of ducks from it:

Trolling slabs from it:

Bass fishing from it (during Turkey season) but you can see how I mounted the depth finder:

And 8t has a clamp on trolling motor mount for the front too. So it is pretty damn versatile.

No doubt. New they're pricey. I got mine with a motor for $900. And there is one on FB marketplace near me in OKC for $350. They routinely sell used for $500ish near me.

TWENTY FIVE ON A GRUMMAN MY ARSE!!

I have heard of it though, but the transom had to be reinforced.

I probably didn't make it clear that my 25 HP is on my 1652 polarkraft bateau!!

My Grumman Sportboat has the 8hp Honda on it. It's one of the sought after double oarlock Sportboats that was made with different and better aluminum and fabrication techniques. It's a pre-1960s model. It's rated for up to 7 HP. The 8 HP on it allows me to see the future and come back from it.

The video is of a regular ol' Old Town guide 147 that I welded up a transom for and slapped a gamefisher on it. It wasn't rated for any hp but it worked!

And btw, I'm loving that old town discovery setup. That's the tits!

Yours definitely has some wear and tear, and has seen plenty of action, and you've never had an issue with it, so Im sold. Thanks for sending me down this path and saving me $200.

Coco, I got mine set up in the back yard to start the break in. I can't for the life of me get this thing to tilt. Manual says there is no tilt switch, only a tilt release to let it back down. But this sumbitch aint tilting, there has to be a switch to flip or some trick to this. Youtube and google only has other models to demonstrate. How does yours tilt?

I don' know why it would be locked down. It automatically locks in the up position when tiled up and there is an L shaped tab you pull to release it. But I don't seem to ever remember it being locked down?

ETA: I'll mess with it when I get home and see. Might be tomorrow before I have time though tbh.
