Anyone have any experience with the auto tranny in the rubicon? Any experience good or bad. All feedback appreciated.

What years?

The older contained auto trans were the best ever.

The new DCTs are...meh

Too expensive for what you get.

If dead set on those units, get the 2019 manual.

It's the 475 motor instead of 520, but the exact same hp. They had to bump displacement to get the same power because of emissions.

Save the money.

And because it wouldn't be me if I didn't say it, the 700 Kodiak is the superior unit. Current Honda 500 owner here

Snorkeled. But believe it or not, the problem was caused by a kn air filter falling off. Sucked trash into throttle body.

I have a Rincon with the auto and it's been great. Also have a rancher with EPS and it has been going strong since '03. Can't go wrong with a Honda

not the rubicon but 2 good friends both had the auto transmission in their 2011 ranchers go out. Meanwhile my foot shift rancher also a 2011 has never given me any issue at all so I would say go manual and i just prefer the foot shift to the ES. got the kids a recon ES and pretty much immediately converted it to a foot shift too but the ES are good. nothing wrong with em just a preference to the foot shift

Guy I hunt with just got the 520, it’s nice but to new to know of issues obviously. I hunt with about 6 guys with the foot shift models that love them. I wouldn’t hesitate to get one. My dad has the foot shift, irs and it also has power steering but it’s a few years old now, solid bike. I hunt off a Honda rincon but I swapped the subtrans gears from the big red sxs for a lower ratio. No issues aside from bearings and bushings over the years.
