I don't know either. I have an 04 foreman with es and have had ZERO problems with it.

I have a Rubicon and it's a beast.

Which ones have these engines?

I have a Foreman ES and had a Recon ES before. If I were buying today, I'd go Rancher. Foreman is badass, but I don't need that much power.

The Rubicon has a carburetor, and the Foreman is Fuel injected. Not sure which is better.

Friendly keeps no less than 5 es actuators in stock in the parts department... you have to sell 5-6 a month to keep ONE in stock. And you cant use the emergency foot shifter that comes in the toolkit as a permanent shifter if the actuator goes. If you do, you strip the shift shaft and have to split the cases.
As for the difference in HP between a rancher and foreman...its like 2-3hp.
I'm not bashing Honda...merely pointing out that with Yamaha you get more thede days

I have a 2010 Honda 420 manual shift that I use for trail riding and serious mud riding and it goes everywhere I want it to go. It also has plenty of power to haul me and a front and rear load of firewood. Most reliable bike I've ever owned!

I have both and the Honda seems better made.
Have they fixed the issue with the belt getting water in it and slipping on the Yamaha? Also the head lights used to burn out or fall out, and they were a pain in the arse to put back in.

From the internet guy to me...who still holds all of my certs from Honda and Yamaha.
The belt slipping issue I assume is just giving me crap. As when the belt exhaust is deep enough to get water in it...you've already sucked water into the intake.
Oh well, tried to help.
Guess the fact that yamaha and honda sales are 50/50 out of that dealer but honda parts sales run about 30/70 mean nothing...
Yall keep buying them, Ill keep fixing them.

The belt slipping issue was a real issue. Being a bike mechanic you should know this, my question was has it been fixed?
Plus I know you if you work or have worked for friendly on airline

The belt can slip if it gets wet. But as stated previously, if you suck water into your belt exhaust, your intake was already under the water and you'd be an idiot to keep it running at that point.
If you mean the original grizzly housings having issues with warping due to heat and allowing water in, that was fixed a long time ago. Havent seen it happen since 07ish.
But the OP said no snorkels and lifts...so assume water over the seat is not a concern.
You might know me, it's been a few years.

20yr plus atv mechanic and I agree with everything suzukigoat has said.
Buy fuel injected or hqve carb issuses. honda rears suck. honda wheel bearings suck and es sucks. unless you like paying us to fix your shite.
Those saying no probs with es consider yourself one of the lucky.
