The remington 870 is a good one. Buy one with the 18.5 inch barrel. You can remove the plug to add a couple more shells. Don't cut the barrel, add a pistol grip, laser sight, bayonet, or anything military looking. In the unfortunate event you have to use it, you don't want to be portrayed as someone who built a weapon and waited to use it.

I have been told the same thing about modifying a carry pistol.

frick that noise. It's a home defense weapon. If I use it, it will be inside my house defending my family. What someone thinks of it after the fact means nothing to me. It's legal and legally owned.

I agree with you, because I think like you also. The 12 people plus 2 alternates that might decide your fate weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty.

The choices of ammunition are what can make a good defense weapon. Mine is loaded with 3" 000 Buck. 2 3/4 00 Buck has a better than 95% stopping success rate.

What do you mean by this? If used in self defense against a home invader, cuffs shouldn't even be involved, unless the perp is still alive.

I hear ya man. I agree with the guy you quoted though. You don't want the other guys attorney to convince the jury that you were baiting criminals into your house so that you could blast them with your tactical military assault shotgun.

I agree completely with this.

If you're justified in using force, you're justified in using ANY level of force. I was told this by my friend who is a US Marshal.

But to a previous poster, I DO NOT advise you get a home defense shotgun with no stock. Having a pistol grip isn't bad, but having no stock is a broken cheek waiting to happen.

Stockless shotguns are meant to breach doors, not defend homes.

Plus, the pistol grip was needed on mine to get it longer than the required 26" overall length .
