IS burn in common on thermal images (at the start of the video you can see the burned in image of the road)

Interesting. But I'd think a Gen 3 night vision scope (especially with an IR light source) might be more versatile.

No way. A thermal imaging scope allows you to see them behind objects and when lying down in the grass assuming it is slightly cool outside.
