30 round magazines are standard capacity for AR15 rifles.

30 round magazines are standard capacity for AK47 rifles.

These rifles account for 0.6% of crimes committed in the US in the year 2011.

Way to pinpoint the problem...

EDIT: Despite what you hear from leftist media, the rate of mass shootings is not increasing, and the crime rate in the US is 50% of what it was in 1992.

And let me also add that The Concealed Carry Act was passed in 1992 and firearms ownership has increased by an exponential margin.

More guns = more crime, right?

We aren't talking about all of that. We are talking about guns. Take your DWI talk to the soccer board.

This thread isn't about heart disease from cheese burgers. Let's talk about guns.

So if the world is so evil and we cannot trust everyone with guns because we haven't gotten to the root of the problem, maybe we should make changes until we do get to the root of the problem. And we'll let you take the lead on getting to the root of that problem.

Why does something that is designed for killing kill fewer Americans every year than something that wasn't designed for killing (cars)? How is this possible?

Why should I have to pay for the crimes of repeat-offenders and former prisoners?

Not true. It would, among other things, make it easier to subdue the civilian populace.
To say that's not true you would have to say that the military wouldn't be hampered by reducing the M4's capacity to 10.

Those kill 450,000 people a year. Priorities are really in order aren't they.

Until you can show me FACTUAL information that shows gun control stops crime, refrain from red herrings and name calling to have a logical argument with me.

I'll give you this to think about too:

Chicago, New York City, San Francisco, and Washington DC are home to some of the most restrictive gun control measures in the entire country. They also have some of the highest murder rates. Why can this be?

I think he might be trolling.

Either that or he's semi-retarded.

Very possible. The reason anyone (including the military and police) have 30 round magazines is to best equip themselves in the event of a firefight. That's why people own tactical rifles. Not for hunting and rarely for home defense (burglary or break-in). This is about a situation where folks are exchanging fire over a period of time....against enemies, foreign or domestic.

I didn't name call.

Just asking why you need such a powerful weapon? What can you possibly be doing with military style weapons. People's children are dying because of bad people with these weapons. Don't you see that?

I see we have a sheep in the flock

Also, what about a law, supported by the Prez, that directly kills children?

Put all sorts of gadgets on it and make it look even more terrifying!!!

eta: Also, when you have a bunch of hogs in motion, sometimes 8-10 rounds ain't gonna cut it..

I dont think any of these shooters had high capacity mags anyway.

IN any event, there are already so many in circulation that if a criminal wants one, they will get their hands on it.

I'm not a bad person. Why should I, and other lawful gun owners, be punished for the actions of these disturbed individuals?

Answer me this... Why do police agencies choose the AR15 as the weapon of choice?

Because it's a damn fine defense weapon. They feel it is one of the best weapons for the defense of self and others.

I have the potential to face the exact same criminal element that they face on a daily basis. Granted, I am not running to these things, nor do I see them more often. Assuming a home invasion scenario in which I use a rifle for self defense, why should someone dictate what I can or can't use when I am the victim? I did not ask this person to rob me or rape my wife or beat my kids. This is all hypothetical but this is the exact reason the AR15 is such a great platform. I prefer the cards to be stacked in my favor than the criminal's favor.

And just to let you know, my home defense weapon is actually a Remington 870 shotgun with 5 shells in it. But, if I had a carbine-length AR15, it would probably be my #1 because of all the positive attributes it has.

quote:

You know that 90% of deer rifles are more powerful than an AR15, right?

EDIT: Forgot to add that the majority of America's crime rate involves gangs... about 3/4 of it to be exact... That's 75% just to be clearer...
