Found it. Crappy wiring from the plug to the trailer wiring. Ground wire was spliced and hanging on by a thread.
I don't want to say its always the ground. But it's always the ground.

Never forget rats like wires ! They chew them together . Hard to find when they run in tubes and aren't exposed.

Yeah. I got thrown off when I followed the ground on the trailer. It was a green wire. Coming out if the harness its white. Then I have 4 wires at the plug and only 3 including the ground where it's screwed in the trailer. I pulled the conduit off and there was the green wire hanging by 1 strand of wire on a connector that went into the white. New connector and you can see it from space.

Did I tell you it's always the ground?

I rewired my 25' flatbed one time. New lights and every foot of wire but the last 2' at the plug. Cause I had done that a few months earlier. Couldn't get crap to work.
The last 2' contained a bad spot in the ground. Felt like an idiot.

You were correct. It's always the ground. After all the modern advancements, you'd figure they could make trailer wiring work for decades. There is always a problem with all of our work trailers.

Fly to the moon. But can't make trailer lights that last more than a month.

The solution to haunted trailer lights is easy. It's the ground circuit. Don't rely on the structure of the trailer to make the circuit. You need to get some wire and run the grounding (white) wire from the plug all the way to the tail lights. Once the white circuit is completed with actual wire, the lights will work.
I can't understand why anyone would attach the wire at the plug and the wire at the light to the trailer and expect a proper circuit to be made.

Sorry but I got to hijack off this thread to. I keep blowing fuses on my truck every time I hook up my trailer. . My right blinker and brake lights doesn't work but the running lights do while fuse is still good. Left blinker and brake lights work fine. I've traced the wiring on my trailer and haven't seen any damage to the wire that could be shorting out my fuses. Any help would be appreciated.?

Does your truck work fine with other trailers?
Does the trailer work fine with other trucks?
That's normally my first troubleshooting method. If it's the trailer then you have a wire or something damaged and going to ground or something. It is aggravating but check again. Also take all the light covers off and remove them if needed, I have seen shorts where the wires terminate there.
Good luck. And triple check the ground

I've got the ground part checked .
I guess I'll go back over the during again or rewire it and see what happens.

Over 12' single axles suck. Unless the axle is really far back. Like west Texas stock trailers. But they just have one axle because it's better on bumpy ranch roads. But suck on the highway.
