Have any of you had much success installing a helicoil? Drain plug was either stripped or over tightened by the previous owner and now its internally stripped.

Watch how to do it on YouTube. It works. I have done a few working as an auto mechanic back in the day.

Yeah, unfortunately more times than I would have liked but it’s a sure enough fix and didn’t have any issues after installing.

I've used Time-Sert on my daughters aluminum oil pan after the cocksuckers at NTB either cross threaded or stripped the threads after changing her oil. They used blue permatex to fix their frickup and didn't say anything. Months later I found it.
From what I remember, you drill out the threads, then you use the provided tap to make new threads, then you insert the new threaded Time-Sert sleeve. It worked great for me but you have to make damn you're drilling the threads out straight.

They make a self tapping drain plug for replacement.
