What's the law with private guns sales? Can you just buy/sell like any other piece of merchandise? Or do you have to go through someone with an FFL?

Yes, if the sale is person to person.

Yes, if gun is being shipped. In this case the seller is required to ship it to an FFL. The buyer takes possession from the FFL after passing instant background check. The seller can use an FFL on the seller's end to ship it if he wishes, be it not required to do so.

The Sig SP2022 in 9mm or 40 is good. Want something smaller, try to find a S&W M&P Shield 9mm (also in 40). Both right at $400. I have both and they are solid shooters.

I have a Ruger P89DC stainless 9MM for sale. It has had about 100 rounds thru it for $400. It comes with all original paperwork, ruger case, lock, 3-10rd magazine's w/speed loader, a set of custom grips, and a uncle Mikes belt holster.

Good luck finding one. I only have 3 friends that have found them, and each bought the only one in Baton Rouge that they could find. Actually, one was bought in Zachary and bought 3 weeks in advance.

Most gun stores have a 4-5 month waiting list for one.

Which Rugers use clips? My SR9c uses magazines and I figured most of them did...

I picked up a Ruger LC9 for $349 about 2 months ago. If you are looking for a compact. I carried a Keltech .380 till I bought it. I can't give you any kind of review cause I haven't shot enough rounds through it but so far so good and it feels good to shoot and carry.
