I'm looking for a new climbing stand for bow hunting. I'm looking for something comfy, compact, durable, and something that just does the job. I wouldn't mind spending around $200 but I don't want to break my bank on this. Any suggestions?

Bowhunting is miserable in an umcomfortable stand. I suggest finding one that is roomy, comfortable, and safe above all other criteria for a stand. I would not put a limit on the money to spend on one.

Just get a bare bones Ol' Man. I think they run $150-200. I have hunted out of them many times and they are comfortable and easy to carry around

API from eBay. I've been looking for something better for at least 15 years, mine is still as good as anything made today. I would not trade it for new.

How are the Summit deer stands in your opinions? I've been looking at them online because my dad suggested looking the those. They seem pretty expensive but are they worth the money?

My only knock on the Summit is that the platforms aren't nearly big enough for a fella with size 12 shoe and the seat is not big enough for a 36 to 38" waist. I usually have to shop in the husky department for clothes during hunting season.

I see no problems with them for a smaller fella. I see you go by BigMike, so you may need to look at this prior to purchasing one.

i'm 5'11" 165lb and my summit stand is awesome for me.

it's a summit openshot, perfect for bowhunting b/c no rail. weighs 14 lbs, compact, all weld, with foam inside the rails so it doesn't "clink" loudly every time you touch it. highly recommend. $230 off the shelf. prob can find one for $200 if you look around/wait for a sale.

I'm going to be getting the Bushmaster stand from Cabelas. It's made by summit but sold under cabelas and real tree brands I think...only sell it there. 18 lbs, no rail and I like the style seat on it more than the one on the open shot (also has a bigger platform).

API has a nice bowhunting stand I saw in bass pro's ad that'll be on sale for 219 next week I think...might be worth looking into

I'm probably going with this one most likely. It appears to be the same stand as the summit specialist, with a different seat, less cushioning and 4 more lbs and $80 cheaper.

I saw bass pro is gonna have the API now hunter on sale for $219 IIRC. Looks like a good stand. I dislike rails though

The old man 360 view is best for your price range.

That one looks short as hell. I like them a little bigger so I can chill out, or if I fall asleep. I dont ever use those harnesses though.

I have a 10 year old API Grand Slam that I mainly hunt with. I used to spray WD40 inside the rubber chain thing all of the time. Only had to replace one chain in those 10 years. It is also "relatively" easy to get down with if the bottom drops out while you are climbing

My dad has a Summit Goliath we can all use in that case. I want one for bowhunting with no rail and that's lighter so I can trek further through the wma with it. And I'm gonna get a nice harness, probably a muddy.

And I keep my top and bottom tied together with a piece of rope anyway

I have tried to make mine walk down a tree. It simply won't do it. Not even on Nuttall or Water oak.
