Dog has a few hot spots. One under each ear and one on an elbow. All are under his coat only stumbled across them when I was petting him and felt some bumps. Looks like a black scab and peels off easily.
Someone suggested 25mg of Benadryl twice a day. Only concern with that is he will lose his playful side and become drowsy.
Any recommendations?

We had to take our Golden to the vet to get this taken care of. It was on her shoulder and she licked it constantly. Vet gave us medicine for her but we had to put on the "cone of shame" for three days till the lesions dried up.

Ours gets them but not as much as he’s gotten older (3 yrs old now). Vet pretty much said keep them clean. They seem to go away pretty quick now.

Pretty common.
Our Golden would get them bad

Go to your vet or local feed store and get some vetericyn, I’m not sure if that’s spelled right. It works great for hot spots or any cuts or wounds on the skin. Comes in a spray bottle and is easy to apply.
