how deep do you put the plastic under a dock 6-10 feet over floor of lake?

If I river fish for spots the first thing I try is a spinner. If that fails I go to a baby brush hogg. Reason for starting with the spinner is simply that its easier and fast to fish then the plastic.

Yes.
Behind river rocks where there is an eddy....fast water moving by slow is where the smallmouth hange out.
I’ve had one hit a popper on fly rod before. One of the best.

I’ve been fishing a lot lately and testing out some new methods. In particular, my go to has become a KVD Caffeine Shad in Ghost Shad. I fish this weightless and twitch is slowly. I’ve found this to be even more effective than a Senko.
The pond I fish has bass actively feeding on baitfish so I think that lends to the success.
In the winter, I tried out the Ned rig with a TRD for the first time...great success when nothing else was working.
I used to fish brush hogs all of the time but I prefer fishing weightless and will choose a Senko over them now. I never fish a basic worm or trick worm....again, generally due to weight being tough for a baitcaster.

My stock is running low since they quit making them so many years ago, but, it’s hard to beat a Mann’s 6” black grape jelly waggler
