You already were convinced you were getting one. You just wanted attention with this thread. I'm looking forward to your next 14 topics about how to deal with a piece of shite animal living in your house.

"It will be an outside cat" sure it will.

Cats are awesome, dogs are awesome. We had both when I was a kid. We trained the cats to use the toilet LINK

We just got our first cat from the shelter 4 months ago. They told me the same thing which was never let the cat go outside. Ha ha. The cat has never stepped foot in our house and he never will. He does come into the garage at night time and that is where he sleeps. During the day he is free to roam. He has already killed 2 rats in our yard and some birds. I have spotted him sitting on our roof of our house over looking his territory. The animal shelter had over 50 cats. We asked the guy which was the most child friendly. He showed us this cat. This guy acts more like a dog than a cat. Plays catch and chases a ball. Very chill cat but will kill anything smaller than himself. I don’t mind the company when I am working late in the garage.

Lot of mentions of cats being cold blooded killers, and that's the reason I've heard a time or two that a cat would absolutely kill you for fun if it thought it could. Sometimes I've seen ours give that look, but guess realizes he couldn't so plays nice instead.

Note, didn't say kill you and eat you, that's not their jam, they're cold killa's and enjoy the kill for kicks....yea, some wild critters.

I know cats are hell on birds but I live in rural Oklahoma and can't seea neightbor anywhere around my house.

I'll be fine without more songbirds around of I don't have rodents and snakes. Having birds doesn't help my pocketbook. Having mice, rats and squirrels have cost me well over $5k in damage to all of my different vehicles and equipment.

I was never a "cat guy" until we got a tortoiseshell cat . She loves me and likes my wife ok, but she is a straight up A hole to most others. I think that type of cat has a lot a lot of attitude though.

Let my son rescue a cat his senior year during the whole covid lockdown crap. That fall he moves to BR to start college and leaves me with the cat. He, the cat, rules the house. I'm cool with it, he's chill, listens to the same music I do and watches the same shows I do.

Is there such thing as having a cat that the kids can love on but it also be a cold hearted killer

Got a grey one in my back yard right now. Birds, squirrels, snakes. Will sit in my lap and cuddle while I pet it.

This bastard showed up outside my pool fence about 3-4 weeks ago. We have a pond that is only 15 feet from our pool cage with 2 pretty aggressive gators living in it. He was running around under my bird feeders trying to snag one. I walked out there and it rubbed my leg and drew me in. I had a few cans of cat food left from when I was trapping coons a few months before so I gave it one. Stray cats are very rare in our area. They dont live long

He ate the food then wandered around in my pool cage for about 10 mins. Rubbed my leg again so I reached down to pet him and the bastard bit me. And pretty hard.

I have no idea what happened to him when I kicked his arse outside but Ive never seen him again. He is on his own

You call it what you will but if I don't have cardinals around my shops, sheds and house but I don't have rodents and snakes, I'm down. Rodents have cost me well over $5k by destroying vehicle wiring on a diesel twice, getting inside a brand new Tundra and nesting and having babies. Had to have the dash removed. Other equipment as well.

Sorry but not sorry.

I adopted a barn cat as she had two large and one a very spoiled tuxedo cat that now weighs 30 lbs. I never believed the vet when she said that my tuxedo cat was going to be a big boy.

We play fetch with balls and he 100% indoor cat except when his mama's in trouble.

Waits by the bed to wake me up 5 am sharp every morning.
He is right on time alarm or no alarm.
If I don't get up he tries to pull the covers off and meows in my face.
He has a serious OCD problem as he runs like clockwork.

He 100% a mammas boy as he runs to my wife every time he mad or feels sad.
One time I took him to the vet where they put him to sleep to do a checkup.
They put him in two large pet condos and he not just fat , but a long large cat.
Brought him home and he ran into the bedroom.
Came out a few minutes later meowing at me.
Looked at him and he hissed at me.
Ran under the bed and did not come out until my wife came home.
Then he seemed like he kept meowing while laying on my wives lap.

Now his mamma who was a barn cat is alot smaller.
She likes to fight with geese, a skunk, cats, and dogs.
She picks a fight, wakes up her huge 30lb baby boy, he gets up all moody, and does a good job kicking tail.

They both ganged up killing a skunk after getting sprayed, two geese that tried to attack him, one goose snapped at me and it triggered him where he killed it, hawk that tried to pick him up he killed it, and bit a mid size poodle.

My lab and him do get along and I think they are plotting to slowly kill me.

We had a solid white cat once, spayed female, that was a very nice cat.We let her in some but she shed terribly.

She caught mice and shrews but I don’t think she ever caught a bird.
I had 2 bird feeders in the yard,it was comical watching her trying to sneak up on birds at the feeders. They would let her get a certain distance then they would all fly to the other feeder.Over and over for awhile. She eventually realized she wasn’t catching a bird.

She followed my wife around outside like a dog.
