Just got the 73 SV and love the down and side vu, but need help on what card to put in it.

I fish nothing but lakes and rivers in Central LA and SW MS.

We can ride together then next time :isa:

I got the UHD model and figured it would come with a card by what I have read, guess I don't read very well.

You have to put a card in them? I just got the 93sv yesterday. Wasn’t expecting to have to spend more money on it.

That's why i was hoping someone had experience with them. It's my understanding that you can open account account with Garmin then connect the finder to your account through wifi. Will try tomorrow and update.

If it's a 73 then it should have good base maps pre-loaded. Garmin bought Navionics a year or so ago and integrates their data with Garmin's. I have 2 73SV's and both came loaded with maps. If not you can get a card from Garmin as I think that's the only cards you can run. I have one with LakeVu and One LakeVu HD. Both are good on Pickwick lake which is the only lake I fish.

One other option is they should have Quickdraw which draws contours as you go if you are on a body of water that is not included with the base maps.

Edited to say this applies to the Echomap and not the Striker. The Striker does not have base maps but may offer Quickdraw, not sure.

Thanks. I actually bout a micro sd card today and uploaded active captain app. Bingo!

You have to have any micro card in it in order to register it and get the LakeVu map. Works great and the Community tracker is cool. You can download all registered lakes and the community track stuff from Garmin free.

I mean the Quick draw community maps. They are free and cool to look at without buying upgraded card for HD type stuff.

So, I have a 7 on the front and a 9 on the console. These units appear to be the bluechart ones. I want the lakes stuff.

Can I download to the existing micro SD card? Buy new just for the lakes? What package should I buy for CENLA and Toledo Bend? Must I buy twice for the two units?

My 73 SV UHD came in last week. It will be 6-7 weeks at least for the ice to move out so I can try it. From what I’ve read it will take up to a 32gb micro sd card.

I think you would have to buy the lakeVu card from Garmin for freshwater. They have a list of lakes on their site I think. The HD ones are 1' contours I think.

Also to add, if you have 2 units and want them to share waypoints then connect the blue wire on one unit to the brown wire of the other and vice versa. No need to buy any extra cables.

I just bought a card.

This is above my head.

All that means is if you mark a waypoint on say the front unit, it will also show up on the back and vice versa. As for the wiring get a piece of red/black speaker wire and on the console unit attach the blue wire to red speaker wire and brown wire to black speaker wire. Then run the speaker wire to front unit and attach red speaker wire to the brown wire of the front unit and black speaker wire to blue on unit. Doing this only allows them to share waypoints not sonar or mapping as far as I know.

Installed the new card yesterday. WAY more detail than the card that was in there. It also added some new features, some of which are baffling to me.
