Who else besides lefty saves seeds? I thought about doing that on plants that do well.

It would be cool to have a seed exchange on here. But then we'd have to divulge personal info for trading.

I save heirloom seeds that perforned well and taste good. It can be hard to grow heirlooms in South Louisiana.

No doubt about that. I have to decide when I'm going to start my seeds for the fall crop so timing with this heat will be hard.

If you're looking to grow heirlooms, I recommend this website: Southern Seed Exchange
They specialize in heirlooms that grow well in the southeastern US. I've been using them for a couple years now.

Looks like my Roma's and San Marzanos are ripening. I'll be making tomato sauce this weekend.

Made 4 quarts today and hope to make more this week. Ripening is slow.

I'm pretty sure my garden has some sort of fungus. A good bit of my leaves are dead or brown looking. Still a good bit of healthy leaves though.
One green tomato so far. Several little hot peppers. But the peppers look stunted almost. Other tomato plant doesn't have a thing except one flower.
May just be a bad year. I don't know.

It's a strange year indeed. Long Winter, short Spring, and early Summer.

The fronts after fronts and then summer without a spring did it.

Definitely been frustrating, I’ve only picked a few squash and yesterday noticed one of the plants looked a little wilted. I knew the score right away. Every stem had borers. Hopefully saved two of the four plants, they’re covered in blooms and little squash.
If anyone hasn’t sprayed their squash, might want to get on top of that.

I yanked my yellow squash yesterday. I got enough out of it anyway. My spaghetti squash has done really well. I've picked 2 already and have 6 more growing. All on 1 plant.

speaking of spraying, my purple hull peas are covered with aphids. What's the best/easiest treatment for them?
I planned on getting Neem oil this afternoon but I'm open to suggestion

Very easy fix. Mix soap and water in a bottle and spray the plants. Won't harm the plants and the aphids will be gone.

A few of my pepper plants really look like crap. I was out of town all last week and I think my mom (caretaker) may have watered them too much, but all the same. Banana pepper has a bunch of fruits but half have what I assume is blossom end rot. One of my bells has blossom end rot. Half my maters have blossom end rot. I am frustrated. Will post photos later for OB advice.
My sweet 100's look good though, as do the squash plants. I've got one big squash and probably would have more, but I think whatever grew last week didn't get pollinated. My dasher cukes have a bunch of tiny cukes on them as well. The burpless ones are flowering, but not much fruit production.

I don’t even know at this point. I do soil tests every year and have plenty of calcium and all other nutrients in the soil. My ph is perfect. And I too have had some blossom end rot. I haven’t had BER problems in years. I’m just blaming it on the strange weather we’ve had this year.

Same. I never get Blossom Rot, but did this year. I think it's lack of rain. No way it's lack of calcium. I have Bone Meal, calcium tablets, and egg shells and still got Blossom Rot this year.

I'm going to try foliar feeding with calcium nitrate.

I had my first caterpillar this weekend, little bastard ate every single leaf on a pepper plant. He got killed with the quickness.
Do I need to treat with anything to keep them out?

Sevin Dust is a good contact killer. Thuricide is a good preventative. I prefer thuricide because it’s less toxic. Most people that I’ve seen who don’t like thuricide complain cause they’ll still see caterpillars even a couple days after application. What they don’t realize is that they may still be alive, but they are no longer feeding. Thuricide blocks their digestive system and they usually die within a week. The biggest downside is that you have to reapply often. But it absolutely works.
