I picked my first three Creole tomatoes yesterday. The Celebritys are not far behind. The cherry tomatoes are now producing faster than we can eat them. I have about a dozen Dragon Cayenne ready that we will make flavored olive oil with. I am about to dig out the catnip plant. It has taken over the box three times now. I have a year supply of dried catnip already. I also think I could throw the oregano on the ground and it would sprout and take over the world in weeks.

Picked a few blackberries over the weekend. Straightneck squash is starting to produce. Got about 10 small ones about 3-4" long. Container tomato has lots of fruit, just waiting for them to turn.

Cucumbers are struggling it seems. I've got an abundance of vines, real thick, but they aren't producing fruit at all.

Peppers are doing well, all fruiting

I was wondering if anyone had any idea what was happening to my jalapeno plants. This is my first year with a raised garden.

I topped the jalapeno plants about 3 weeks ago. I have noticed in the last week or two that the leaves are starting to turn brown and crunchy, wilt, and eventually fall off.

I have looked online, but can't really figure out what is causing this.

Any advice is appreciated!

First, give the plant a little shake and see if any insects fly off of it. Second, how often are you watering? Could be underwatering or more likely over watering. Worst case is its Leaf Spot disese. Remove all the bad leaves and those that have died and dispose of them. Watch and see if more leaves brown and drop. If so, you probably should destroy the plant. Leaf Spot cand spread to tomato plants.

My guess. Pepper plants don’t really need a lot.

I've been watering the bed every 2 or 3 days. Should I cut back to maybe 2 times a week?

Everything else in the bed is looking good and growing well.

No that's not too much watering. Are you super soaking each plant? If you have good drainage then thata not an issue. My tomato plants are doing well except I'm not getting as many flowers or fruit as I would like. Time to add bone meal

Yep, although I did plant some Kentucky Wonder pole beans as well. On those I hate the floss like spine on them if they get a little big.

Be patient with the jalapenos. Mine always seem to do better at the end of summer / early fall.

Can someone explain this to me in more detail? I read about it online, but not sure if I should do it to my pepper plants/not sure how to do it.

Also, has anyone ever used a hydrogen peroxide mixture in their soil? I was at a mother's day family deal yesterday, and my grandmother lectured me for about 10 minutes on why I should be pouring a 1/5 hydrogen peroxide/water mixture onto my soil and plant leaves.

My tomato plants seem to be over that brown leaf spot after I hit them with some Daconil. Sweet 100's have about 10 small fruits, and the better boys/bhn 1021's have about 5 fruits per plant. Still only about 2.5' tall though.

I've got a couple of small jalapenos and bananas, but no bell peppers yet. Cucs are starting to ride the trellis pretty well, but no fruit. Squash hasn't flowered yet. I think I got started a bit late on the squash and zucchinis though.

I would also like some pepper opinion. This is my sole jalapeno plant. Should I "top" this plant? How do you gardening experts think it looks? I feel like I'm not watering it enough.

That plant looks healthy. I don't know if you need to top it. It looks good.

My japs look similar to yours. Also growing them in the same plastic pots. I may top my bell pepper plants. They haven't set fruit and they're much less bushy than my japs are.

One month ago, we had two nights here with 40 degree low temperatures. Middle of April and winter was still kicking. My plants were way behind, especially the cukes. Different story now that heat has arrived. Picked several big bell peppers this weekend. Cukes will be ready this week. Tomatoes looking good but still green.

Something has my tomato leaves curling a bit. I’m hoping it’s just the fact that the temp has been in the 90s here the past few days. My plants each have a few fruits though, and the bhn 1021s are growing fairly well.

Banana peppers are starting to set fruit too.

I would think no. Do you see any flower or fruit deformities? It doesn’t just affect the leaves.

More than likely it’s just insect damage or mildew.

Hard to say. It hasn't flowered yet. Hopefully it's just mildew because these things really have taken off in the last couple weeks. I expect them to flower soon.

I actually found blossom Rot on a couple of tomatoes. It's in my newly built bed only. I must have gotten some bad soil or something. I always put bone meal and egg shells in and around my plants. I've never had this issue before.

Calcium Nitrate works well also, maybe better than egg shells.
